Dash Speaker access

Are you ready for Plan C?
Here it is. Gently pry out your left side plastic air register insert. Do it
from the short side close to you with flat blade screwdriver. Chances to
break something are almost nil. Once it's out, you will see two screws
holding down plastic bracket to which grill is attached. Undo these screws.
Note: you will need short and stubby Philips screwdriver to get access to
the screw at the windshield. It's PIA to undo this one. Pull left side of
the bracket up about 40 deg and pull it to the left to dislodge two tabs on
the right side of the bracket. When bracket is out, you have full access to
the speaker and its four holding screws. I had the same problem. Tried to
repair my speaker, it had intermittent contact at the point where wire is
glued to the paper cone. It worked for a short while, but failed again.
Replacement is unavoidable, I am afraid.
