Kent,
Among other things, check the underhood fuse for the fan. It's a big honking
fuse, and it's not always obvious that it's bad (steam and lights on the
dash are one indication, tho...)
On my wife's 200t, it cracked due to age and caused the car to overheat.
Some people replace this fuse every couple of years as a preventive measure.
The only good thing about my 200t overheating was that we ended up replacing
it with an A6...which then inspired me to replace my Range Rover with the
S6!
