Yes, normal.  Almost all audis are this way.

They do voice recognition("call home.")  Impresses/amuses some; bores
others.  Still kind of bleeding-edge for car phonese today.  In MA, my old
phone(not Audi) happened to not be activated, but could still call 
SmartRoutes(traffic service, *1 in many large cities) and 911.  Free is 
good :-)
