I use A LITTLE copper coat - gooey, sauce-like stuff. Never had a bolt/nut
come off on its own volition. I use that on all suspension bolts, exposed
to the outside. Especially since undoing recently rear caliper bolts on a
2.5-year old VW Beetle wasn't a picnic.

Braking content:
Funny (not) thing on that Beetle - one rear brake rotor warped at about
80,000 km and at least 50 % of the pads are still left. Aggressive pad
material (still factory) plus Mexican rotors equals warp - any
Startreckheads? {:-) The new rotors are German, so hopefully will last a
tad longer. OTOH, last summer driving a rented MB C-class 220 CDI in
Germany the familiar warp-indicating thump-thump-thump at low speeds
appeared at about 20,000 km on the odo. Possible explanation: The car had
on the windshield an admission sticker to the 2000 Formula 1 Grand Prix in
Hungary, so was maybe driven by aspiring racers. Either that or the brake
rotors were made in ... who knows?
