[urq] New TT commercial Audi's BEST EVER!!

what made me do it? i needed an awd car to take to the snow.
my honda civic si (unmodified) was a great city car, a hell
of a lot of fun in the twisties, but putting snow chains on
- let's just say that i have vowed to never do that again.
i wanted a turbo car, having never owned one.
i remembered the quattros from the 80's, when i was a teen.
i have always liked cars, and awd german engineering appealed
to me. i found the q-list, and joined. i asked a lot of
questions, was given a wealth of information, and scoured the
net for audi cars for sale. i found this green urq in
colorado tht was for sale, and within my budget. i had been
told that they are persnickitey but i did it anyway. though
some aspects of that purchase were poorly thought out, it
all turned out great in the end - i met mike because of
my urq, and knew what to order when it came time for a new
car, met other cool listers and a *communtiy*.
basically, though, i came to really adore the look of it, the
rarity of it, the history of it, and the RIDE! roller coasters
are "scary" in that there are some thrilling physics involved.
but ultimately, there's no risk, nothing is going to go flying,
you and your fellow passengers will return back to the station
no matter how wild the ride. that's how an urq feels to drive.
but i am preacing to the choir on that.
the rarity and specialness of the car is a great appeal. i have
a 1991 suzuki rgv 250 for similar reasons. i ride that thing
down to laguna seca, for the big motorcycle race weekend. there
whole town is bikes bikes BIKES, it's a lot of fun. i park my
rgv and usually it takes 30 minutes to walk away from it, lest
i be rude to the bystanders who want to talk to me about it.
the owner of the brand new $20k ducati gets no attention whatsoever.
the duck is an astounding performance machine, but you can just
*go to the ducati store and buy one*.
anyway, it does not seem like a gross crime to be lost on a
passing reference to ms mouton, referred to only by first name.
when i explain to a friend why i think my urq is so cool, i always
tell the story of the rally history. i've seen the quattro
video that features her so prominently. when that was current
history though, i was 11 years old, and wrc did not get much
coverage in the usa (an understatement). it still does not,
which sucks. i like racing but loathe almost all american forms
of it - nascar, etc. nascar would not be all that much more boring
to me if it was 30 cars on 30 dynos, winding out their engines
for 90 minutes until a victor was proclaimed.
ultimately, though, it was a brain lapse - late at night, a bit
of a buzz on, you know the drill.
SO you read this far! my urq is sorted - there's a new engine
to replace the old mc that would not get full boost. no reason
WHY it wouldn't, but the only thing that would fix it was a
new long block. they are stuck on the cooling fan - it will not
operate automatically as it should. any ideas?
and doug, thanks for the thought-provoking query! :)
