Schrapnel Knob just installed - WOW!! - was [RE: gasoline prices/fuel economy]

Just plumbed in a by-pass for the WGF Valve with a pressure regulator and
added a ground to the fuel pump relay (I know - not too safe) but WOW!!!!
Using 94 Octane with an additional bottle of octane booster my 1990 200Q is
hauling some serious a$$! The mechanical pressure gauge shows 19 psi and the
in dash computer reads 2.0 BAR very quickly. Fifth gear performance has
taken a dramatic change for the better with full boost coming on at around
3000 RPM.
Combined with the earlier by-pass valve install, first and second gear come
and go real quick and the torque in fifth is simply amazing!!!
This is the dual knock sensor MC engine and I'm wondering if I'm about to
blow it up in short order. Unchipped MAC-14 and for those of you with the
accesss to your fuel pump relay, I opened it up and soldered a wire to the
T-terminal inside and then pulled it out through the top of the relay ,
crimped a spade connector on and inserted it into the 85-terminal slot that
is unused in the MAC-14 diagnostic. This gets around the overboost fuel
cut-off.
Going to post the pictures on the web site soon, but I need to know what
needs to be done to prevent this new-found power from trashing the engine...
it seems to be too good to be true... lots of power, really easily and way
too cheaply!! Without the chip modifying the mixture, what am I facing in
near immediate problems? Do I need to worry about a lean mixture? It seems
to run really smoothly and really well with good fuel economy (just put
300km on it this afternoon) Good fuel economy at heavy traffic cruise 120
kph gave me 9.8l/100km and 140 kph resulted in a 12.4l/100km. These are, of
course, trip computer readings, but it has proven to be quite accurate when
compared to actual fuel used.
One more WOW!! and then I await the "Turn it down!! You're gonna blow it
up!!" responses ;-)
Cheers,
