Ignition Switch gone bad? 1990 V8q

All,

My wife ran to the grocery store and when she got back in the car to start it 
she noticed that the instrument lights, fan, and window motors worked without 
the key.  She put in the key and turned with nothing happening.  There is no 
resistance on the key so I'm assuming the ignition switch must have died in 
the on position.  So the obvious questions are...How hard is it to R&R?  Is 
the ignition switch for the V8 interchangeable with others?  Anyone have a 
step by step process for replacement?
