In need of an MC head, and another question

Mike, I don't think I have ever seen an MC head _without_ cracks between the vavles.  Cracks are actually quite normal, there is a factory spec. for what is acceptable and what is not based on the size of the crack.  I would bet your cracks are likely ok, any local machine shop could rebuild your head for under $300 quite easily.  You shouldn't need to dump a ton of money on this unless your head really is bad, which then you can get a used head and start over.
