yes, it supplies battery power for the three parking light circuit
outputs (these comprise the four small pins in a row on the switch I
think)

See? The dash lights are part of the parking light circuit...
Something about that circuit is drawing too much current, you can try to
find it, and/or use a relay for them. instal it behind the inst
cluster, take the three variously striped grey wires (I think they are
grey...) and switch red wire power to them using a remaining good output
from the switch connector. This may require installing one more
connector and switch if the last ones you had have been killed.
as a PS, that power feed provides power to all four headlight filaments
when you "flash to pass" - that's one way to draw a lot of current there
and melt things up a treat.
