why I almost don't drive and Audi, but do

My first Audi came along from a client after my BMW 320i passed the 120,000
mile mark. It was an early Coupe (non-quattro). Terrible car. Rough ride,
on Maine's rough secondary roads, although it was terrific in bad weather.
Learned to love heated seats in that car.
It went away when I noticed the body seams were starting to come apart at
around 16,000 miles.
The second one was a 5000S two-wheel drive Avant...bought for my wife.
Wonderful bad weather car, but she hated it. We had front rotors done under
warranty at 30,000 miles and one window regulator replaced, also under
warranty, but she hated the car so much that it went away right after that.
Quite a while after that, and on impulse, I drove a 5000CS Quattro Avant
that was at a friend's used car lot, with 120,000 miles on it. I brought it
the 100 miles home, and that night, we got around four inches of snow. I
was hooked. I kept the car through trials and tribulations for one hundred
thousand miles, and donated it to the local auto museum charity auction and
took the dealer's certification of value for taxes, as the car wasn't really
running when it left here on the auto transporter that last time.
That car was replaced by the 89 200 Quatro Avant, whicch has almost seventy
thousand miles under my second ownership, for a repair total cost per mile
of 8.6cents. It will be replaced by a 100CS Quattro Avant next week.
Also in the garage is a '93 V8 Quattro, because I discovered the joys of
Quattro with the terrific GRUNT of the eight cylinders of the Porsche 928.
I live in a difficult area weather-wise, and the simple fact that the Audi
is always ready and capable of going, despite the six inches of snow, or
worse, ice that we got after midnight, AND delivers its impeccable
performance with great safety, makes it all a no brainer....butkeep up with
the maintenance or it will hurt you!
