why I drive an Audi

That 16v GTi should be just as crash worthy. I had one, a 91, and was t-boned 
by a dodge ram pick up with a king cab while I was going about 65 mph. My car 
was narrowed down the drivers side by about 6 inches the whole way from front 
to back. Then I bounced off the guard rail and stopped in the fast lane. He 
continued on, hit the same guardrail, bounced off and totaled a Chevy Blazer. 
I had some bruises, a cut ion my left upper arm, and glass in my eye. My 
glasses were on the opposite shoulder of the road, and the drivers side 
mirror glass was on the passengers floor! What a night that was! If I only 
hadn't stopped on the Gibson Island Causeway to watch a thunderstorm over the 
Chesapeake Bay.....
