Why I drive an Audi

Why I drive an Audi is a really good question. I grew up in Utah Skiing
like a mad idiot every winter and 4 Wheeling to my hearts content in a 76
GMC Jimmy the rest of the year. I still own the 76 GMC because I was given
it at 16, my first car/truck/SUV, whatever. I was sponsored by Tyrolia
and Sun Ice ski companies when I was in highschool and I even got to work
in the Hot Rossignol warehouse for a summer. I met a good friend up on
the mountain one winter day back in 1996 when we really took a lot of fresh
powder on a constant basis. I was also in an avalanche that winter that
almost killed me. Needless to say on this particular morning the canyon
was clogged and cars were off the road everywhere. Everything from Ford
trucks to mini vans full of tourists from California and back East were
all over the place. No body was getting up that canyon to the resort this
morning, except ME! I was pretty cocky in those days and in my BIG FULL
SIZE BLAZER with a big block V8 and full time 4 wheel drive burning 1 gallon
every 4.5 miles, I was determined to be the first idiot on the hill that
day. I roared past all of the other snow trapped saps and ripped up the
road as I went past laughing out the window. As I pulled into the parking
lot that day, I noticed two, just two other vehicles that had beat me to
the hill this day. One a brand new Hummer driven by the Volant rep which
I was not at all Surprised at seeing and my friend in his 90 80 Quattro.

Now I had thought that I was really pushing my vehicle hard to get up the
hill that day and for all I know the Hummer had been parked there all night
BUT the Audi was still steaming from the snow melting on the hood and it
was obvious that it had only been there for a few moments. I couldn't believe
it and I asked my friend what the he did to get this little car up here!?
He laughed and said "You've never driven an Audi in the winter have you?"
I replied "no" and we proceeded to enjoy one of the most private and amazing
days of skiing that I have ever had. It took three hours before anyone
else could make it up the hill that day and by then many had given up.
Needless to say, 6 months later when I personally saw this same friend in
this same Audi beat a Jeep Cherokee up a muddy hill at a 4 wheel drive spot
that I used to frequent, my mind was made up. I started shopping right
away and within a month I found my 93 90 CS. I have been completely converted
to Audi since and I even sold them for 4 months at a dealership where I
did an internship for school. I have converted about 4 more friends to
Audi since buying my car a year ago and on any given snowy Saturday morning
in the Winter we can be found caravaning up that same canyon to that same
ski resort where it all started.
I drive an Audi because it looks a lot better than a 76 GMC. It gets better
gas mileage. It's jet fast compared to any SUV from that era and let's
face it, it's the best Damn car in the world, Hands Down!
