CIS turbo power/boost limits

[Hello,
I am wondering what power/boost limit for fuel is on the Audi Turbo cars.
Ned Richie from Intended Acceleration says its good for "in excess of 20psi"
in the "Turbo Magazine" article posted on his site.

This sounds good to me, but Scott Mockery's site says the flow plate maxes
out at 1.8bar at 5500 rpm.
Anybody have any BTDT with the 5kt cars knowing how much boost the stock
fuel injection is good for? I may want to run the stock turbo fuel system on
my next project for a wile before I upgrade to EFI.

My personal experience is about 18 PSI.  Any more and you may or may not
detonate depending on ambient conditions.
