Do i really need the Silicon Hose?

Hey All,
 
   I only have a Stage 1 upgrade from MTM, has anyone here ever run
stock intercooeler hoses and had no problems? Casue I'm tired of the
silicon hose leaking cause the clamps won't hold! Can I use a stock
hose? Cause there isn't a whole lot of new boost from the stage 1
upgrade, it only is like 22-23 psi of boost!?!?!?!
