Chris,

I went throught the same thing, and have seen it happen to others weveral
times. If I recall correctly, the Ground wire and the low beam wire are
bass-akwards on the Eurolight connector.

I experienced the same thing, swearing up and down that I had everything
wired correctly.

As mentioned earlier, you should not use these without relays as that will
likely burn out your switch/wiring in short order.

Try swapping what you have as ground wire, with what you have as low beam.
Use a multimeter to confirm.

p.s.
Here's some snips from some posts I dug up..

There is one other possibility that I will check out this weekend. Huw
prompted me to scratch my head and make a small diagram that reveals a
possible culprit.

When I got the lights, the high beam wire (white, was reversed with the low
beam(yellow) on the connector. So I swapped them.

It might be that one of these was actually ground. In that case, one of the
lights will be bright/normal and the other would be dim as I would be
running the two lights in series reducing the luminouscity(sp?) of both.

I think I have it correct, but, well I'll find out for sure when I double
check.

After I drew a simple diagram, it makes sense that I might have the ground
reversed with a feed and won't blow a fuse. One side would be normal
through to ground and be bright. The other would be dim since it would be
essentially feeding both light in series.

We'll see....

Subject: Eurolights - 100 Q - dim, fixed follow-up

Thanks to the persistance of others on the list insisting my dim Eurolight
low beams did not seem normal, I was able to find and fix the problem.

I had just hit on the possibility of the ground wire being in the wrong
position with a rough sketch, when Mike Arman sent his post which showed the
position the wires on the connectors needed to be for H4 bulbs., so I
wouldn't need to do this with an ohmeter.

So I looked at the connectors, and well the ground and the low beam were
bass-akwards. Swapped them and the lights work as expected. Low beams are
bright, and high beams are well, really bright.

Thanks all for the insistance and persistance.

'89 100Q - Eurolights and just about ready for the new owner.

[ok, here goes...
i got a set of eurolights from a 200TQ in a wrecking yard.. the car was
strange..it had the DOT style wiring - but the factory plugs were the 4
prong
female plastic Euro plug that plugged right into the back of the eurolight,
complete with boots and all. it was like that from the factory...not
spliced, all original.

in other words - imagine the DOT style wiring, but with the Euro female plug

on it.
:
:
but..
the light output STILL SUCKS. the Eurolights with 55w H4's (low beams), and

stock harness, is not any better than the DOT low beams..

the high beams, however, are alot brighter than the DOT high beams. but, i

cant run hi-beams all the time because people flash me.. and also, it
feels
like my headlight switch behing the steering wheel is getting hot when i run

the hi-beams.....

so everything works, but the low beam light output is not any better than
the
stock DOT's. ]
