ahh good point!!
there is no fuel running after the car is off,I think I got my information from a bosch fuel injection book which stated that the purpose of the extra fuel was to keep it cool. although with the amount of heat in that engine compartment it is amazing that anything can work, this is for the CIS and electronic injection on the 20v. I am sure the 60+psi pressure that the fuel is under also helps out a lot!

Fuel runs back to the tank after the engine's shut off? Anyway, the
earlier I5 turbo cars have the intake manifold on top of the exhaust
manifold and that's all on the same (US passenger) side of the engine as
the turbo. In addition, the fuel lines from the fuel distributor all run
above the turbo to get to the injectors. The 20 valve turbos have the
intake manifold and their injectors on the driver side of the engine and
the fuel lines run behind the engine and up the driver side, far away from
the turbo.
