How I got my ABS warning light to go off.

Probably just a basic, routine maintenance procedure
for all the older Audi's. Remove the "relay" looking
thing on the auxiliary relay panel inside left hand
knee board. Not a relay at all, but contains 3 circuit
boards masterfully crammed into a case. Take it apart
carefully. Kind of hard to remove the cover. Clean up
the circuit boards, remelt the solder on suspicious
looking joints, and apply contact cleaner on the
contact blades. Any of these three step could have
been the one that solved the problem. All I know is
that the light does not come on or flash
intermittently. Car brakes normally and if you try to
lock up the wheels on a slippery surface (I tried it
in a grass field) the ABS comes on normally. Oh yeah,
I know the light works because I can turn it on with
the manual disable switch.
Question - What is the purpose of the fuse socket on
the top of the unit (similar to the socket on the fuel
pump relay)?
