I am looking for some suggestions to get my wheels clean after some "fun" at
the Nationals this weekend.
Problem is that I have run out of ideas, given this is what I have tried:
1) Three types of wheel and engine cleaner with water;
2) Gunk HD Engine Cleaner and rinsed off;
3) Tilex and rinsed;
4) Paint thinners;
5) Adhesive remover - also tried Nail varnish remover in one spot which
destroyed the finish very quickly
Only the Griot adhesive remover is working very slowly, inch by inch, but it
does not remove the residue.
Some background: the wheels are white 9" (lots of spokes, Ronals, powder
coated and in very good condition before we started, i.e.: Alpine White. I
was using Pagid Orange pads, and we had a Concours before the track event
prior to which I "dry" cleaned the wheels with towels pre soaked with wheel
cleaner and finished off with a Detailing spray. The wheels were clean at
and for the entire evening after that.
I made one attempt to get residue off when the wheels were warm (not hot) at
the end of the first day (to lessen the job today), but I was not successful
using the same technique that used prior to the Concours.
So...any ideas?
