Idle Boost

Hi Jack-
To tell you the truth, I never even got consensus from the list as to what
was *supposed* to happen. I thought from reading Bentley that the idle was
supposed to raise slightly when the AC compressor kicks on (to prevent stall
and to bump up the alternator output slightly to compensate for the extra
electrical loads). Some people claim that the idle just isn't supposed to
dip when the AC comes on and that mine was operating properly by maintaining
speed- others claim it's actually supposed to rise up from about 750 rpm to
about 900rpm. So, I eventually gave up. But, I did try and diagnose the
signals first, and I think I was NOT getting a boost voltage signal on some
pin at my ECU if I remember correct. I have this all written down but can't
get to it right now. I have intended to look into the problem a little
further, but just haven't gotten to it yet... I am still interested though,
I'll try and become active in solving this mystery.
Thanks,
Matt
