As I posted recently, the I5 2.3 NG with the 2-pc intake manifold is also
found on the 80/90 series in addition to the 87.5 CGT.
Moreover, there are two versions of the I5 2.3 NF engine. The early ones
(used on 1987-88 5000 non-turbo) is as you describe -- "old" style manifold
and head. However, 89-91 5K non-turbos have the new version of NF that
has the same style 2-pc manifold and head as the NG.
I propose we clarify this by calling the old style NF-1, and the newer
style NF-2. For the purpose of engine swap into a 4Kq, the NF-1 is
the one desired.
