A4 A-pillar removal/headliner access

Hi all,

Any hints/tips/etc. on how to get the A-pillar off on my 98.5 A4 without
damaging anything? I don't believe there is an air bag there (wasn't that 99
and newer?). I have a remote mount laser sensor for my BEL radar detector
that I want to mount behind the rear view mirror and I would like to route
the wire for it along the headliner and down the A-pillar into the dash.
