Beaten by a Galant?

Brett,
The A4 Avant 1.8T quattro, B5 chassis, is approx. 3350 lbs. That's
nowhere
near the weight of our cars, which, IIRC, comes in around 3600-3650 lbs.
The 5ktq is approx. the same weight as the Avant 1.8tq.
Still, the Eclipse GSX is a couple hundred pounds lighter than the A4,
that's
where the big difference lies, along with the fact that the tiny K03
turbo can't
flow enough air at higher pressure to be in its efficiency range- lots
more
heat soak, although I don't know how bad the DSM IC is.
Eclipse/Talons are 190-195hp, depending on if it's a FWD or AWD or if it
has a
slushbox. Easily moddable to 300+ hp for quite cheap.

Well, A4's weigh quite a bit. They're heavier, by about 100lb, than my
enormous 200 quattro 20v turbo(it's larger than an A8, inside and
out) depending upon the trim level; the -new- a4 1.8t with manual and
quattro runs around 3400lb. I'm not sure, but I think the older A4's
were heavier? The V6 certainly is; the new 3.0 is listed
w/manual+quattro as 3583.
According to a quick search with google, the 1997 Talon weighed in at
3100lb. The '91 TSi was around 2990 if I read a seperate page
correctly.
That's one -major- reason why the A4 feels slower. Another would be
Talon HP figures seem to be in the 190-200hp ballpark depending upon the
vintage...something it takes at least a chip to get to in an A4 1.8t.
