Now installed and calibrated.

Fun device. It wants to know all sorts of things - it needs a feed from the speedometer, so I had to fix the jumping needle I've
been ignoring for three years. The odometer has started working - I know it's about 100k miles short but it's going round again
now. It also needs to look at the reversing light for its dead reckoning calculations and has four separate hooks into vehicle
power.

When you fire it up it needs calibrating - you drive around (it wanted nine miles in my case) while it watches the GPS information
and compares this with the messages it gets from the speedometer and the laser gyroscope. Then it's happy and starts to tell you
where you are.

It's incredibly accurate. "Take the second exit from the island in three hundred yards" is one thing, but saying "turn left" as you
reach the exit is something else - it really is accurate to a car's length. As you turn off the road, the message "Off road"
appears literally as the rear of the car leaves the carriageway.

I shampooed the carpets and washed all the trim while the seats were out, so the car is currently drying out. I have a
cross-country run planned for tomorrow (Dore to Halifax station) and then a run over to John Birks' Christmas do on Sunday.
