why me?

BTDT, many times, many years ago. Success depended on fleeing as soon as I
saw them hit the brakes, speeding through subdivisions before they could get
turned around or out of their hiding place. I reasoned if I didn't see
lights, I was avoiding arrest, not resisting. If this sounds incredibly
stupid, you're right! After getting my license back and graduating from
high school, I could barely afford to insure a car at my horrific rates.
I'm really lucky I never maimed or killed anyone, that probably would've
trashed my life.

So now I'm slower on the road. I've never lost "my need for speed", but
it's more than satisfied in various sports, flying, and chasing my kids
around. Hopefully this experience won't dampen your enthusiasm for power,
speed, and thrills, just redirect it a bit. Enjoy your 20's, don't slow
down, and resist getting old as long as you can!

ps, if you REALLY need speed, visit some Air Guard or Reserve flying units,
they need pilots.
