For those that don't want to cut and paste:
A lawsuit against an upset customer who complained on the Internet about
service he received at a Cobb County car dealership was
resolved after the
customer and the head of the dealership met.
Jim Ellis, chief operating owner of Jim Ellis Motors, and
George Mantis, a
Georgia Tech graduate student, met Friday to discuss their
problems.
Mantis had complained on the Web site VWvortex about problems
getting his
car serviced at Jim Ellis Motors.
The message received numerous postings in support, some of
which caused
concern for the safety of Ellis' employees, the car dealer
said.
Jim Ellis Motors and its manager, William Farmer, filed suit
against Mantis in
November, alleging libel and stalking.
But in a posting on the same site that Mantis used to air his
complaints, Ellis
said the suit was the result of a lack of understanding about
how the Internet
works and of concern for the well-being of his employees.
"We're not about suing our customers," he said. "We're about
trying to please
our customers."
Mantis, also in a posting on the Internet, said the meeting
resulted in an apology
from Ellis and a pledge of "renewed commitment to customer
care" at the
dealers
