I wanted to write in and thank the list for help with the unexplained brake
fluid loss on my 1990 80q. For those who don't remember, my car was VERY
slowly losing brake fluid. The calipers where dry and there was no brake
fluid leaks that I could find under the car. Front brakes (pads and rotors)
and brake master cylinder are about one year old.
Some things that were recommended:
1) Brake pads where getting thin
2) Slave cylinder was leaking
3) Flex hose to clutch slave cylinder was leaking
4) Clutch master cylinder was leaking inside of car
After checking the above, as well as a few other possibilities, it was a
leak at the clutch master cylinder. It's just barley seeping at the moment.
Looks like I will be replacing that in the next few months. I'll probably
go ahead and replace the clutch slave at the same time.
I just wanted to update the list and thank everyone for their suggestions.
P.S. I'm thinking about doing the master and slave myself but I'm concerned
about bleeding the system. How hard is it to bleed the system since the
slave is so hard to reach?? Easy if your a contortionist?? :-)
Thanks again!!
