graunching sound from suspension

Previously, I wrote about a graunching sound from the front end of my S6.
Well, Saturday, I think I solved the problem.
While changing over to my Nokia NRWs, I noticed some buildup of asphalt in
the bottom spring perch on both sides. Our neighborhood streets were
recently redone, and some fresh asphalt must have kicked up into the spring
perch. The stuff was fresh and sticky and stuck to the metal. With the
springs under compression the asphalt was trapped between the spring and the
lower spring perch. It took a little prying to get it out, and once I did, I
got no more graunching sound.
Couldn't more problems be that easy? :)
