Help with Stereo

Nokia? What you describe sounds like the Bose
system, and if your speakers are making a ton of static, that's very
interesting news...we had previously thought it was a problem isolated to
1991 model year 200q20vs and v8qs...unless you just simply cranked them
up too loud and blew them out...please do share more about exactly how
they failed.

Typical failures of the early bose units include:
-speaker stops working suddenly
-rear speaker suddenly starts making a VERY loud "fbbbbbbbbbbbb!" noise
-front speakers make funny static after a few minutes operation(pop!
crack...errrrrr PSSHSSSSSSHHHHHH!)
-rear speakers progressing from smoking to destroying the entire vehicle
via the trunk(not pretty, and has happened to several 200q20vs.) This is
due to a blatantly faulty design whereby the electrolytic capacitors leak
their fluid onto the circuitboard causing a short that overheats the unit.
