Wylie-
Er, how do you figure on the car being "old" technology?
Isn't the B6 A4 still using quattro IV? I have no information to the
contrary, although you've got a better source of factory info based
on your job. :-)
The Passat's 4Motion is _identical_ to quattro IV used in the B5 A4,
the late C4 and C5 A6 and the A8.
The VW A4 chassis cars- Audi TT, Golf, Jetta, Beetle, all use the
Haldex system in the 4Motion cars (not to say that there is a Beetle
4Motion- I guess there is in the RSi).

it's the exact same system as the "old" A4 used, just badged
differently. in order to get 4Motion as VW calls it, you have to buy
the top-o-the-line GLX V6 Passat. It's the 30v 2.8L V6 with the same
setup as quattro. That's how
they keep it cheaper than Audi, by using old technology. I call it
Trickle
Down Technology. Sells a lot of Audis anyway.
