Quattro IV ...???

Well, since I joined the list I'm certainly becoming edjemacated on
Quattros. Wow.
Here's my dumbfoundedness:
I guess I was vaguely aware of the development of the Quattro system over
the years, but I never knew the generational descriptions. Are we now using
Q5? Anyway, I have a specific question, which has puzzled me ever since we
got our first "later model" Quattro, my wife's A6 Avant:
When she turns a sharp corner - slowly - something feels like it's rubbing
or grinding. That never happened on my 1St V* and is not happening on my
current V8 - both '90s. It almost feels like an American 4WD system, say on
an Explorer, when you have the 4WD on, on dry pavement - but not quite as
dramatic. What's up with that? Is something wrong? Should I worry? Should I
have it checked? Or is that just how they now feel under those maneuvers?

Only 6 & 7 remain.
