I think this is before Audi realized that the standard 75-25 max split they
used on manuals didn't work quite as well with automatics.  Since then
they've lowered that max to 67-33 with slushboxes, and retain the 75-25 with
manual gearboxes.  Problem seems to have been solved.  **Note, the V8 used a
different setup than the A6's so it's hard to directly compare them, even
though they're both automatics.**

just an interesting tidbit picked up at one of the many training seminars AoA
sends us to.

Neither of my '89/'90 Q's did it, nor does my '00 A6Q.
