034 EFI, controlling ignition with Haltech IG5?

It shouldn't matter if the ignition system knows if it is on compression or
on overlap, fire it every time the piston is at  TDC.
The nice thing about even cyl cars is that each pin is for 2 cyls.
I believe that what the wasted spark system is just that it fires every TDC
and if it is overlap, the spark is just wasted.
  Please substitute your timing reference for TDC in the above statement to
be technically more accurate.
