Well... i assume your old computer is running nothing more than the ISV
now?
The AAV just "bridges" the throttle body and lets more air in when cold
(obviously). So long as you take care of pressurized air issues, that
is, make your "new" plumbing boost as well as vacuum tight, it should be
pretty easy.
To find used ones, look at (any?) cars with Bosch CIS - any normally
aspirated engine with a warm up reg. on the side of the block should
have one somewhere. Start with pre-84 or so Audis, I'm sure VW's have
them too, also volvos and prolly beemers.
Not sure how "calibrated" the size of the bypass opening is though -
might want to stick with one from an Audi 5 banger. I probably have a
couple lying around up in the attic with my other CIS stuff.
It is heated by the intake manifold where it is bolted on, and by an
internal heating coil which is always on with the engine. Typical two
pin AMP connector that you must have plenty of spares for by now!
