Used S4 advice

Colleagues:

My son is looking at a 2000 used S4 for possible purchase.  It has 9300
miles on it.  Audi dealer in Plano, TX is asking $32,900 for the car.

This dealer did not sell the car new or service it.  Took it in trade on
something else.  It is Audi Assured so there is still substantial warranty
on it.

Not that it is especially relevant, but he currently drives a 2000 Jetta
VR6, 5 speed, etc.  Car has been nothing but troublesome since day one.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or advice on what he should look for, etc.
