so long as the water has a way out, even leaking around the hose where
it is stuffed into a hole, you're gonna be hard pressed to get 15 psi
inside the parts, let alone the 60 psi of your faucet pressure.
with fresh cold water gushing in one place and out another, you're in no
danger of overpressurizing *anything*.
and a big PS, I already said this is the time to put in a new thermostat
and heater valve, it's also time for as many new coolant hoses as you
can manage. All the ones that you do not know when they were replaced,
and especially the cheap little straight one from the thermostat cover
to the heater pipe.
