I hope the car is basically free, because you see pretty nice 320is around
So Cal for around 12-1500 bucks. A decent medium mileage motor is gonna
cost you around 7-900, and you'll want a clutch, water pump, hoses, a
radiator, and tuneup parts. You're gonna end up with more in the car than
it's worth. They're hard on exhaust parts, and miserable to get by the smog
checks. The front ends are mostly worn out, they are prone at this age to
expensive fuel leaks above and around the fuel tanks. They made the 323is
around that time, so a conversion would be possible, but the bits and pieces
to swap one in might be virtually unobtainable. BMWs are EXPENSIVE cars to
own. We like to see them come in the shop because they're always money
makers. HTH, John
