Dave,
I have seen this problem occur in so many cars that I can't count em, and
almost always it is caused by a bad plug wire. The give away is that the
problem only occurs when engine gets moist.

The wires may test fine out of the car, and you may seem to have spark at
the plug, but the spark is not enough to give you a good "burn" in the
combustion chamber (btdt at least 10 times). New wires, or replacing #5 wire
with a known "good" used wire, will help you eliminate that as a cause of
the problem. Actually I would steer clear of using a used wire, just bite
the bullet and buy new ones :-)

You can also check for other electrical gremlins in the engine bay by
waiting until it is dark, firing up the motor and spraying selected areas
with a fine water mist. Any shorts will show up as nice little sparks when
the mist hits them.
Have a good one,
Tom Belrose
