 >Mum is chatting with the head tech at Danbury Audi and he has set up an
"emergency" appointment on the 2nd. Surely they can't miss this one. I am
inclined to ask for a spanking new transmission after the linkage and clutch
are both checked

The second sentence has a LOT more to do with why I would hesitate to buy a
new Audi than the first. A $50K car +/- with what at first blush appears to
be a potentially big buck problem and they don't give you an appointment for
a week?! Drive it and when the misaligned synchros wear down enough to
shift smoothly all the other bits should be gumming up the works just after
the warranty period! If it is ugly, and driving another 5 days on it makes
it worse, I'd be asking for a new car, not tranny. Honestly for that kind
of $'s I'd expect the salesperson in my driveway, if the problem is
confirmed I'd expect a rental delivered and a flatbed to take away the
Allroad. Is it just me or are folks not expecting enough for their hard
earned $'s?
Mike
