headlight switch gremlin

I noticed yesterday upon finally obtaining the connecor I needed to swap the
dash in my 83 URQ to an 85 CGT model that the headlight switch wire from the
85 (rotary) is almost 1/2 the size of the 83 (rocker style).
Much of the rest of the wiring seems to be the same size and color code, but
that appears to be a serious problem requiring relays.
Anyone else notice this when doing the infamous dash swap?
