Shushhh! Don't tell everyone!
But I suppose they're going to find out ...
These things are like inside-out Eeze-outs. A vicious internal spiral
thread - a 'negative mirror' of an Eeze-out thread - grips the outside
of the locking hub bolt and just drags it out. Mine is double-ended
and fits on a 1/2" drive extension. It's an impact tool because you
have to overcome the anti-grab ring on the outside of the locking
bolt.
It has a standard part number from a respected manufacturer but I've
never seen it listed in a catalogue or on display. I got it after I
had a few problems with customers who'd lost their 'keys' - it turns
out that Audi/VW only manufactures 12 different locking keys and I
persuaded a dealer in the UK to sell me the 'dealer kit', which has
all 12 keys in it.
I was discussing this with a tool merchant, complaining that the kit
wasn't very portable. He vanished into a back room and produced this
tool.
Worth its weight in rocking horse shit.
