Mike,
Wow, that's like removing the engine to get at the pass front driveshaft on
the 4kq ;o)
It is way easier just to pay for A/C refill and remove the evapourator out
of the way.
Saves tons of labour hours not to mention ripping most of your dash apart.
You are removing the air box cover anyway, there is two more bolts holding
the evap. on.
You crack two lines, one more bolt holing in the cabin and the evap is out.
Knowing Audi you will most likely have to refill the A/C before summer
anyways.
Does anyone actually have a working mid 80's A/C system? I have yet to see
one.
