Steve, Larry,
Yup! Sounds familiar. I'm convinced the throwout bearing is gone.
I chose to go with Bruno's Quattro Center. Bruno called me back this
morning and informed me it'll cost me $800 in parts/labor.

I want the job done right, so I bit the bullet and managed to limp the car
over to Queens, NY this afternoon. After meeting him, I'm confident my
200q is in good hands. She'll be ready on Friday.
This is the first time since 16 years that I've gone to a mechanic to work
on one of my cars. I've done all the work and repairs that's been
required. Feels kinda strange to let someone else wrench my car...and drop
so much $$$ for the service. It's 25% of the cost I originally paid for
the 200q! :-(
So, thanks again to all who helped out.
Happy New Year!!!
Will

William:
Those are the exact same symptoms my car had when the throwout bearing let
=
go - it whirred for a few weeks, just like Larry's, but then it suddenly
st=
arted screeching with a substantial amount of throbbing through the clutch
=
pedal (at which point I parked it until I had the money to do a clutch
job)=
.
When they pulled the transmission the throwout bearing was destroyed, even
=
though the clutch had a few miles left in it. Weakest link and all that.
Good luck to you, sucks to be on the road with a major mechanical failure.
