> A quick browse through TFA shows:

> 012 311 285 AA -- third gear
> 012 311 295 D -- synchronizer ring for 3/4 gear (same # on 5 gear)

A slightly slower browse finds the link. Call down the part number
menu and input (speculatively) the number 012311295A. This comes up
as a superseded (12/88) part. The superseding part number is marked
with an asterisk, so it's also superseded. Click on it, and the
same happens again - superseded in 3/92. The one now given is the
one listed for the transmission at present - 012 311 295D.

One wonders why suffix 'A' was superseded so quickly. Early failures,
perhaps? A recall?
