VERY interesting.  Thanks Phil.

I still think it will be cheaper considering my time + parts to just buy a
good used tranny rather than rebuild what I've got.  However, if 3rd gear
synchros are a problem for these things, maybe rebuilding makes sense, using
the new part as of 92'...
