multifunction filling with antifreeze

My guess is that the sensor may have managed to wiggle a little loose and
since it hangs upside down on the coolant flange there could be a slow drip
that wouldn't be noticable unless you stared at it for a few hours.. but
over a few days might start to accumulate.  Note that there is a crush
washer in between the sensor and the flange so if it did wiggle loose,
sometimes tightening it won't stop the leaking as the crush washer has
already been "cruhsed"...  If you need a new sensor, You might want to try
TPC (http://www.thepartsconnection.com).. I bought mine for about $40.

Sounds like you may have some wiring shorts to sort out now too..
