Coolant-oil swapping

If the coolant seems fine...that shouldn't be strange. There's prolly no
leak at all. Rough idle or driving is rarely directly caused by a leaky
gasket, etc. You have a whole lot of other possible problems. A good place
to start is in the fuel or ignition system. Compression test will verify
whether or not you have a coolant-oil leak. If compression is within spec
on all cylinders, your engine is fine. Seriously it's pretty rare for leaks
to occur on an Audi engine, unless you know something bad happened, like
losing a coolant hose and frying the head. There are so many possible fuel
issues, you really should start there...vac. leaks, dirty filters, stuck
valves, bad sensors, old injectors, etc, etc. good luck, but don't waste
time pulling the head if you already know you have good compression.
