Hello list:

I posted a message about a month ago about my 1987.5 CGT and the oil light
and buzzer going off, and the filter being partially imploded and the insides
being sucked out of the center hole. After finding some letters from you
guys about not using Fram filters, plus consulting w/ a local reputable
Import repair facility, I drafted a letter and sent Pennzoil the entire
package.

I told them about the filter blowing out, oil light, etc., and after changing
the filter and oil w/ a MANN filter, the light has not sounded since. I felt
damage has been done to my motor, although it shows no signs of it, no
knocking, blowing oil or anything else. More or less in a nutshell I told
them that I felt their product caused damage and I asked them to 'do what was
in their power to remedy this situation'.

First off received a letter from Honeywell Corp, the parent company of
Pennzoil and Quaker State a few days later, stating that my claim was
received and turned over to their insurance company, Zurich U.S. and that
they would contact me. Few days later, Zurich sends me a letter asking me to
call them. Called them up and she said without any damage they cannot
reimburse me for anything. She was willing to pay for the 28$ oil change and
that was it. After 'voicing' my concern that the engine was possibly
damaged, and I wasn't happy w/ her offer, I asked if she was willing to pay
for a diagnostic check, to check over oil pressure(s) and whatever else might
indicate problems. She said she would pay up to 250$ for a service checkup.
My local shop told me if it hasnt blown yet, it likely won't but they'd
listen for main bearing noises and go from there.

Figured I'd let you guys know how my deal went down. Advice for the day is
always use a good German Filter, like Mann or Bosch, or you may hear the
buzzer that scared the #$%^% out of me! Don't go to the drive thru oil
changes like the previous owner of my Coupe did, its not so bad to see whats
under the car once in a while

Thanks for the help from the people who responded to my original post.
