4kq clutch pushrod snapped in half...

The pushrod snapped in half this morning. I guess -20 and 16 years were
enough. The problem is the rubber bellows at the fire wall appears to
conceal any circlip that holds the remaining end to the clutch slave. I was
hoping to just cut a new threaded rod, but now it seems that the project is
now much more complicated (of course). Any ideas on how to resolve this
without a miniature welder?
TIA
