87 5KCSTQA strange lighting behavior

I notice that the little chime that tells me when I left the keys in the
ignition (and opened the drivers side door) doesn't chime. So, it could be a
problem with the key/lock. Thanks

Oops one other thing i forgot to mention.  My step-mom's old 5k used to do
that.  She had a really large ring for a key chain, about 3" across and my
knee would hit it, slightly moving the key.  When that is done, you can
prevent the lights from working at all.  This is most likely your problem.
The control module deals more with the interior lights than the entire
lighting system.

The little control module for the dash lights thats located directly above
the glove box.  I had a similar problem in my car and once i replaced that,
it went away.
