Huw is correct on this:
For a machine shop a good percentage of cost is in
tooling and set-up. Piece price is not, as it is only
aluminum or raw material. If you were to order one
piece machined it might cost you 350bucks, but if you
ordered 10 it might be only 700. The best way is to
find if people are interested and get a bunch of
people to kick in. Or DIY. If it is only a piece of
aluminum (aluminium) with holes in it. Make a template
and use a drillpress.
